An International Youth Underwater Photography & Film Competition at Malikia Resort Abu Dabbab
This Christmas, something special is happening beneath the surface of the Red Sea.
The Malikia Young Ocean Creators Award invites young divers and snorkelers aged 12–18 years to explore the underwater world of Abu Dabbab, discover its beauty, and turn their experiences into creative photographs and short films.
Hosted at Malikia Resort Abu Dabbab in Marsa Alam, this exciting annual event brings together diving, creativity, family holidays, marine awareness, and the next generation of ocean lovers.

The Red Sea is full of incredible stories waiting to be captured.
Whether you discover a colourful reef, encounter fascinating marine life, or simply experience a magical moment underwater, the Malikia Young Ocean Creators Award gives young participants the opportunity to share their personal view of the ocean with the world.
Participants can enter one of two competition categories:
📸 Underwater & Ocean Photography
Capture your favourite moment from the Red Sea.
One photograph per participant
Underwater or ocean-related images
Basic editing such as light and colour correction is permitted
No professional manipulation or compositing
🎬 Underwater & Ocean Short Film
Tell your ocean story in a short, creative video.
Maximum length: 30–45 seconds
Vertical format, suitable for Instagram Reels and TikTok
Royalty-free music permitted

The competition is about more than winning a prize.
Through introductory briefings and professional supervision, participants will learn about:
Responsible diving and water safety
Underwater photography and filming
Marine life and ocean awareness
Responsible use of underwater equipment
Protecting the Red Sea and its fragile marine environment
Participants can use their own cameras or smartphones, while underwater housings may be available through our technical partner, ProShot, subject to availability. All diving and water activities will be conducted under professional supervision and in accordance with applicable diving safety standards.
From Young Creators to Ocean Stars
Following the competition, a professional jury representing the event partners will select the Top 5 photographs and Top 5 short films.
The finalists will then be presented through the event’s social media channels, where the public will have the opportunity to support their favourite creations.
The winning entries will be determined through the official voting process.
